Joe has been lucky enough to score some oak whiskey and bourbon barrels lately. Of course the ones that get everyone excited when they seem them in the brewery are from Templeton Rye. One TR barrel has already been filled with an Iowa Brewer’s Guild Collaboration brew of rye barleywine. The brewer’s chose a malt bill and some general directions but each beer will be somewhat unique. They will be debuted during Craft Beer Week in May. Be sure to watch for it (or email Dani@peacetreebrewing.com to get on our mailing list) and visit all the participating Iowa breweries to give it a try!
The second TR barrel may be filled with our Imperial Stout that will be brewed the first part of February. We will likely save this one 12 months. The other barrels are from Heaven Hill and one has been filled with Black River Gumbo Stout to be aged about 12 months as well. Lots of fun to experiment with the different flavors from the barrels so I am sure you will see Joe doing more of this as time allows!
